A selection built on what actually lasts
A sleeve takes the daily friction so your laptop does not. It gets slid in and out of bags, set down on desks, and carried through commutes, so the leather and the seams have to hold up. We choose ours for the grade of hide, tight even stitching, and a snug fit that grips the machine without forcing it.
The leather grade decides how it ages. Full-grain is the top tier, using the strongest part of the hide and developing a rich patina over time. Top-grain is a smoother step down. Genuine and bonded leather sit below and tend to crack or peel within a year or two. We stay in the upper grades, and if a piece does not meet that bar, it does not carry the name.
Sleeve vs case vs laptop bag: what is the difference?
These three get used interchangeably, but they are not the same thing. A sleeve is the slimmest option, a close-fitting cover that protects against scratches and light bumps and tucks inside a bag or tote. A case is more structured and thicker, sometimes with a handle, built to be carried on its own. A laptop bag is a full carry solution with straps, pockets, and room for more than the machine.
If you already carry a backpack or briefcase and just want to protect the laptop inside it, a sleeve is the right call. If the laptop is the only thing you carry and you want to grab it and go, look at a structured case or a proper bag instead.
Getting the size right (13, 14, 15, 16 in and MacBooks)
Sizing is where most people slip up, because the label on the box is not the whole story. A sleeve listed as "14 in" is built around a specific footprint, and a 14 in MacBook, a 14 in ultrabook, and a 14 in gaming laptop can all measure differently. The screen diagonal is not enough.

To be sure, close your laptop and measure its width and depth, then match those to the sleeve's internal dimensions, not just the inch label. Leave a little room if you keep a thin hard shell on the machine. A snug sleeve protects better than a loose one, since a machine that slides around inside takes more knocks.
How leather laptop sleeves protect, and where their limit is
A leather sleeve guards against the everyday threats: scratches, scuffs, dust, and the minor bumps a laptop takes inside a bag. A padded or felt-lined interior adds a layer against harder knocks. What it is not is a rugged drop case, so for serious impact protection a hard shell does more.
On water, full-grain leather is naturally water-resistant, not waterproof. It shrugs off light rain and a quick spill if you wipe it dry, but it is not built for a soaking. If it does get wet, blot it and let it dry naturally at room temperature, never near direct heat.
A sleeve that makes a lasting gift
A leather laptop sleeve is an easy gift to get right, because it is something a professional uses daily and rarely buys for themselves. It suits a graduation, a new job, or a promotion, and a set of embossed initials turns it into something kept for years. Match the size to the recipient's machine and it lands every time.
How to care for a leather laptop sleeve
Care is minimal. Wipe the leather with a soft dry cloth to lift dust, and condition it a couple of times a year with a small amount of leather conditioner to keep the hide supple and prevent cracking. Apply it sparingly and buff off the excess. Keep the sleeve out of prolonged direct sun and away from soaking moisture, both of which dry and warp leather. Treated this way, it only deepens in character with age.
Part of your everyday carry
A sleeve works best alongside the bag it rides in. It slips neatly inside one of our men's briefcases to add a protective layer for the laptop. To round out the rest of your setup with pieces chosen the same way, explore the wider men's accessories collection.
