Description
The Bureau is a full-size desk mat cut from genuine cowhide leather with a vintage, oil-tanned brown finish. Your laptop, keyboard and mouse sit on one surface, so the setup looks finished instead of cluttered with separate pads. Each hide takes the finish a little differently, which means the grain and tone vary slightly from one mat to the next.
Measure the free space in front of your monitor before you order and leave an inch or two of desk visible on each side.
The top surface handles a warm laptop or a hot mug, and small spills wipe off if you blot them right away. The underside is the natural suede side of the hide: it grips wood, glass and laminate so the mat stays put while you work, and it protects the desk finish from scratches. Contrast stitching runs around the edge to keep it neat. Optical and laser mice track directly on the leather. Like any real leather, it picks up light marks and darkens a little with use, and that patina is part of the look.
An integrated leather strap with a snap keeps the mat rolled for storage or for a move between home and office. If it arrives with roll marks, lay it flat for 24 to 48 hours with a few books on top.
