Description
The Hollins is a convertible leather backpack with a solid top handle, two backpack straps and a long shoulder strap. The straps clip on with brass swivel hooks, so you can remove them. The bag arrives with its backpack straps and its long shoulder strap. Carry it by the handle into a meeting, swap to backpack straps for the commute, or wear it on one shoulder. The upright shape stays neat in every mode.
The bag measures about 11.8 x 14.2 x 7.1 inches (30 x 36 x 18 cm), roughly the size of a mid-size daypack on an adult man. Inside, a padded sleeve takes a laptop up to 14 inches, and document slots plus pen and phone pockets keep small items in place. A laptop, a book and a charger fit with the flap closed. Larger 15 or 16 inch laptops do not fit.
The shell is crazy horse cowhide, an oiled and waxed leather that shows a pull-up effect: it lightens where it bends and darkens with handling, so each bag ages a little differently. The buckles and hooks are antique brass. Two buckled straps keep the look of a classic satchel. The bag weighs about 4 lb (1.8 kg) empty.
Choose the version that suits how you carry. The Double Strap version has a clean flat front under the flap. The Front Pocket version adds a flap pocket on the front with a push-lock clasp, a quick place for a phone, keys or a transit card without opening the main flap.
The oiled leather resists light rain but is not waterproof, so blot it dry and let it air dry away from heat. Wipe it with a soft dry cloth and rub in a little leather balm every few months. It comes in Dark Brown or Tan.
